Description:
As a Part-time Maintenance Assistant, your responsibilities will include performing unskilled and semi-skilled manual labor tasks crucial to the maintenance, upkeep, and repair of City facilities. Collaborating with facilities maintenance workers and skilled building tradespersons, you will be engaged in various tasks related to carpentry, plumbing, painting, HVAC, electrical, and custodial trades. Your role is indispensable in ensuring the overall functionality and aesthetic appeal of our community spaces.
Examples of Duties:
- Collaborate with various trade personnel, such as electricians, HVAC technicians, carpenters, plumbers, and custodians.
- Thoroughly clean interior and exterior areas of buildings, machinery, equipment, and grounds.
- Execute routine maintenance and repair tasks, including painting, minor carpentry, and changing light bulbs.
- Uphold cleanliness standards in offices, shops, storage, and mechanical rooms.
- Transport and handle tools and materials required by technicians during their duties.
- Operate electrical and gas-powered equipment, encompassing drills, saws, air compressors, pressure cleaners, and leaf blowers.
- Drive motor vehicles to transport materials, supplies, and tools.
- Perform monthly maintenance checks on buildings, grounds, and facilities.
- Conduct cleaning and detailing of Facilities’ fleet vehicles.
- Fulfill other assigned duties.
Qualifications:
- High school graduation or equivalent.
- Proficient knowledge of tools and equipment used in maintenance, repair, or construction work.
- Possession of a valid Florida driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
Physical Requirements:
The work may involve heavy tasks, requiring exertion of up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 20 pounds constantly to move objects.
