Description:
As a Carpenter at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, your contribution to the Facilities team will involve active participation in construction and repair activities across hospital sites. Your responsibilities will encompass the construction, repair, and installation of various components, such as counters, cabinets, benches, partitions, floors, doors, code base, ceilings, hardware, and building framework and trim. Following blueprints, drawings, or oral instructions, you’ll utilize carpenter’s hand tools, adhering to safety procedures to ensure a secure and well-maintained environment. Additionally, your duties will include the installation of glass in windows, doors, and partitions, along with routine and preventive maintenance on various building features.
This position operates during the day, Monday to Friday, from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, offering flexibility to adjust shifts based on departmental needs.
Required Criteria:
- High School diploma or GED
- 2-3 years of specialized training (trade school)
- 3-5 years of related carpentry experience
- Proficiency in constructing drywall partitions
- Ability to effectively use woodworking power tools
- Capability to install cove base
